The new year brings some positive changes to the FIXUP monthly. We are now gathering on the third Thursday of every month at 222 Hyde to continue our quest for exposure to the sounds of future bass music. Our ultimate goal is to give people the opportunity to enjoy something a little different. Our night is catered to all those forward thinking electronic music connoisseurs who thrive on the sounds that are too fresh to have genre labels or mass appeal! San Francisco Bay Area DJ / Producer, Ryan Summers has been hard at work building a new sub-genre of electronic music, coining it "cinematic dubstep." Cross-pollinating a number of genres such as glitch, hip hop, 2-step, IDM, and DnB, he has been in the studio working on his debut album. In addition to his production, My Pet Monster rocks dance-floors all around the Bay Area, opening for well-known Dubstep artists such as DZ, NTRLD, Lazer Sword, Mochipet, Nit Grit, ill.gates, An-Ten-Nae, and Ripple. U9LIFT

To attempt to categorize U9LIFT's style would be a disservice. If you made frosting out of dub/dancehall/reggae, soca-beat island rhythms and ragga jungle, and spread that on a cake made of bottom heavy bass and breaks, you'd have dessert that almost compares to a U9LIFT set. for the ninth installment of FIXUP, we hosted local boogie merchants SALOKIN, NAPSTY and FIRE LIEBER. as expected, booties shook and bodies swerved. we are still waiting on photo documentation from the night, so if you wanna see how it looked, you'll have to tune in later.

TIMESOC filmed episode two of SOCKTALK with TIMESOC. see it here. he seems to be holding it together when tasked with taping the show, though on this particular evening, he was attacked by a tenderloin dweller who must have deep seeded issues with puppets. the dude tried twice to assault TIMESOC. luckily, i was there and had his back.

Y'ALL. SERIOUSLY. FIXUP 008 WAS SO FAR OUTSIDE THE PROPERTY LINES.

(that's a good thing, it means the night was a success)

i can't express in text how thankful i am to all those who came out to support, much less verbalize my gratitude to the djs that night.

dubsworth was spot on. djg was impeccable. and headhunter, for fucks sake, was absolutely outstanding. and they were all such good sports for their interviews with TIMESOC. let's not forget unsung hero shouts to the tenderloin street character, donovan, who not only did the intro for SOCK TALK with TIMESOC, but also recovered and returned Miss Beth's ID.

By integrating the skills of each of our resident djs, we will construct an evening that underscores the distinctiveness, yet accentuates the similarities, in the range of our sound.

SOOKIE DRINK

Bottom heavy machinists SOOKIE DRINK (KOZEE and PSYCH TYSON) are teaming up once again to lay the foundation for the operation with a solid core of bassline and dubstep.

JON HOLLIDAY

Bassweight mechanic JON HOLLIDAY is tasked with assembly, sourcing materials from diverse origins, creating a unique dancefloor framework of low frequencies and drums.

JUS WAN

Deep dub craftsman JUS WAN will utilize his expertise on the structural elements, incorporating stylish forms and composition that highlight his eclectic influences and original productions.

SUBTEK

UKG specialist SUBTEK is set to apply the final touches, a refined amalgamation of sub-low, garage and 8bar, coating the completed product in a finish that not only reflects its origin, but also emphasizes its evolution.

Smooth out your bodywork and roll out your dents with the bassline and dubstep primer base coat, administered by chief FIXUP technician PSYCH TYSON, aka SPACER.

Rich, full spectrum electro enamel will be mixed and sprayed on by RETOX, who comes to us from the booth at SAY WHOA SF.

Finally, to provide that glossy and flossy finish, the top coat will be applied in many layers by MALLABEL artisan EL DIABLO.

FIXUP is cooking up a three course feast of beats and bass for the march edition. As always, you can expect a diverse selection to satisfy your appetite for bottom heavy sounds.
The appetizer for this meal will be an old school 2-step sampler, plated by executive FIXUP swervin chef SPACER. The sounds, a mix of aged and farm fresh garage, are a tantalizing precursor for what is to come.

The main course, prepared lovingly by the undead but deadly, chef ZOMBIE-J, features flavors from his newest establishment, UNDEAD TACO, as well as traditional fare served in the MALLABEL chain of eateries. Expect your entrees to be meaty, hearty and satisfying.

Save room for dessert. The final course is presented by BRAP DEM head chef, pastry-powerhouse PRINCE ZAMMY, aka ZAM ZUPA. RIch, delectable beats, coupled with creamy basslines will be the perfect complement to your meal.
